Silver Branch Brewing Company is looking for a talented and motivated individual to help lead our team of bartenders, servers, and support staff focused on ensuring an excellent guest experience.

Shift Leader Bartender Job Description

The Shift Leader Bartender will ensure an excellent guest experience by motivating and leading a team of hospitable and knowledgeable bartenders, servers, and support staff members. Providing the best possible guest experience begins by leading and motivating an excellent taproom staff. Elevating the standards for taproom service, beverage knowledge, and floor sales is a key function of the Shift Leader Bartender role. The Shift Leader Bartender will work directly with the General Manager to design and execute excellent taproom experiences for our guests every single day.

The Shift Leader Bartender must have strong organizational and administrative skills. Another major function of this position is ensuring that systems are implemented by staff. The Shift Leader Bartender will manage the floor a minimum of 2 times per week, up to 5 times per week and be responsible for assisting with ongoing education, training, and POS management, all while ensuring a clean, sanitary, and organized taproom. The Shift Leader Bartender will also be scheduled as a Server or Bartender when not scheduled as Manager on Duty to meet the full-time requirement of the position. This role reports to the General Manager.

Shift Leader Bartender Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage cash for the business and grow top-line revenue through sales techniques with staff while improving bottom-line profit through reduction of mistakes and unnecessary waste
  • Collaborate with the GM and AGM to determine ways to motivate and train staff
  • Implement training programs for all new hires with a strong focus on sales, beer and excellent hospitality
  • Must have an eye for the greater good of Silver Branch; able to teach bartenders and servers and answer questions related to up-selling and service
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive environment for all staff to work in
  • Highly personable, effective in communicating with guests and capable of developing a successful taproom team that builds regular clientele and generates repeat business
  • Process online orders and DoorDash orders for pickup and manage back end of the POS while managing the floor
  • Responsible for establishing and teaching Silver Branch Brewing Company standards of service while striving for continual improvement
  • Handle customer complaints; resolve issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner
  • Maintain sales records and track cash receipts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of combined restaurant, taproom, or hospitality experience
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong organization and intuitive communication skills to discern and address the needs of customers, employees, stakeholders, and company leadership
  • Must be a Certified Beer Server Cicerone® and willing to pursue the Certified Cicerone® with a strong passion for beer, and a desire to teach others
  • Goal-oriented with ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity, critical thinking, good judgment, sense of urgency and honesty
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software with ability to learn new technical systems including but not limited to inventory management software and the backend of our point of sales system
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and/or pivot plans quickly in order to coordinate corrective actions needed
  • Up to 4 shift leading shifts per week with at least 1 bartending shift per week. Minimum of 8 hours per managing shift for a minimum weekly full-time requirement of 36-40 hours

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly and transport items to and from the kitchen on a slick uneven surface
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computers
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs via food or beverage trays or required equipment needed to perform specific job duties
  • Available to work a variety of hours including weekends
  • Must be able to lift 135 pounds, at times
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry, wipe, and squat as necessary
